Indonesia Police Ready For Experience to Overcome Terrorism to Hong Kong Police

Jakarta - National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian started the second day of the 87th Interpol General Assembly in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by holding a bilateral meeting with Police Force Commissioner of Hong Kong, Lo Wai-Chung Stephen. In the meeting, the National Police confirmed that they were ready to share the experience of tackling terrorism and radicalism.

The meeting took place Monday (11/19/2018). In the written statement received, the success and global reputation of the Police in tackling terrorism and radicalism has been appreciated. The Hong Kong Police hopes to learn more from the success of the National Police in counter-terrorism along with the radicalism program implemented by the National Police.

Tito said that the National Police were ready to collaborate more closely with the Hong Kong Police in tackling terrorism and radicalism. The National Police is ready to share the experience and cooperation that will be realized by exchanging information and organizing regular meetings formally and informally.

"The cooperation in combating terrorism will further strengthen the cooperation between the Indonesian National Police and the Hong Kong Police which have been very well established in dealing with narcotics crimes. Especially in the cooperation on combating narcotics crimes, the National Police Chief and Commissioner of Hong Kong Police Force also agreed that "It is no less important to continue to be improved. Given that the large middle class population, Indonesia has grown to become a very potential market for illegal drug trafficking," said the statement.

Tito explained that the Indonesian Police had often thwarted a huge amount of methamphetamine and ecstasy from Taiwan where the crime also involved the Hong Kong narcotics network. This is a result of good cooperation between the Indonesian National Police and various friendly police forces, including Hong Kong.

The Commissioner of Hong Kong Police Force then invited Tito to present to provide debriefing and share experiences with the Hong Kong Police in overcoming various crimes in Indonesia. Tito agreed and promised to fulfill the invitation.

During the meeting, the National Police Chief was accompanied by the National Police's Kabareskrim Komjen Arief Sulistyanto, the Indonesian National Police Relations Relations Inspector General H.S. Maltha, as well as Secretary of the Indonesian NCB-Interpol Brig. Gen. Napoleon Bonaparte.
